Disease

Dis-ease - Lack of a feeling of ease; uneasiness. There is no adequate definition of disease, so more than one definition is given bellow.
  • A disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, esp. one that produces specific signs or symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury
  • Webster defined disease as-
“A discomfort, a condition in which bodily health is seriously attacked, deranged or impaired, a departure from a state of health, an alteration of the human body interrupting the performance of vital function”

  • Wikipedia and World Wide Web defined—
A disease or medical condition is an abnormal condition of an organism that impairs bodily functions, associated with specific symptoms and signs. It may be caused by external factors, such as infectious disease, or it may be caused by internal dysfunctions, such as autoimmune diseases.
  • From ecological point of view, disease is defined as
“A maladjustment of the human organism to the environment”
  • A particular quality, habit, or disposition regarded as adversely affecting a person or group of people
Above from the disease discussion now we may call disease as
“An interaction between an organism and environment that results in an abnormal condition of the body or mind that impairs bodily functions and produces specific signs or symptoms”

Plants and animals have diseases too, not just human beings. But we are more concerned with diseases affecting humans and thorough researches were made to prevent, control and cure these diseases.
